The Name-Recitation of the Protector Amitābha

LU-MEY KÖN-CHHOK SUM GYI NGO-WO NYI

The very essence of the infallible Three Jewels,

NGEN-SONG JIK LAY DRÖL-WAY PA-WO TE

The hero who liberates from the suffering of the lower realms,

DAK-PAY ZHING DU DRÖ-PAY DE-PÖN CHHOK

The supreme pilot for traveling to the pure fields:

GÖN-PO Ö-PAK-MEY LA SÖL-WA-DEP

I pray to the Protector Amitābha.

LA-MA TÖN-PA CHOM-DEN-DAY DE-ZHIN-SHEK-PA DRA-CHOM-PA YANG-DAK-PAR DZOK-PAY SANG-GYAY GÖN-PO Ö-PAK-TU-MEY-PAY ZHAP LA GÜ-PAY CHHAK-TS’HEL LO/ CHHÖ DO/ KYAP SU CHHI’O

AT THE FEET OF THE GURU, THE TEACHER, THE BHAGAVĀN, THE TATHĀGATA, THE ARHAT, THE PERFECTLY COMPLETE BUDDHA, THE PROTECTOR AMITĀBHA, I PROSTRATE, MAKE OFFERINGS, AND GO FOR REFUGE WITH DEVOTION.

Recite this as much as possible.

GE-WA DI YII NYUR DU DAK

By this virtue, may I swiftly

Ö-PAK-MEY GÖN DRUP GYUR NAY

Accomplish the Protector Amitābha,

DRO-WA CHIK KYANG MA-LÜ-PA

And through that, may I establish all beings without a single exception

DE YI SA LA GÖ-PAR SHOK

On that same level.

With that, make prayers of dedication.

KHYEY LA TÖ CHING SÖL-WA-TAP-PAY T’HÜ

Through the power of praising and supplicating you,

DAK SOK GANG-DU NAY-PAY SA-CHHOK DER

For myself and all others, in whatever places we live,

NAY DANG ÜL-P’HONG T’HAP-TSÖ ZHI-WA DANG

May sickness, poverty, and quarreling be pacified,

CHHÖ DANG TRA-SHII P’HEL-WAR DZAY DU SÖL

And may Dharma and auspiciousness increase, I pray.

With that, make wishes and aspirations.

From the forthcoming book, The Compendium of Daily Name-Recitation and Dhārani Practices, by the 7th Panchen Lama.
