É-MA-HO: CH’OK DÜ GYEL-WA ZHI-T’RO RAP-JAM NAM
How wondrous: The infinite arrays of peaceful and wrathful Victorious Ones in all directions and times,
T’UK-JÉ TSÉR GONG NYAM-CH’AK KONG-WA’Y CH’IR
Consider us with compassionate love; and so as to amend breaches of violation,
DIR SHEK NYI-DA PAY-MA’Y DEN LA ZHUK
Come here, and rest upon seats of sun, moon and lotus;
CH’I NANG SANG-WA KÜN-ZANG CH’Ö-TRIN BUL
We present Samantabhadra’s clouds of outer, inner and secret offerings.
A LA LA HO: KÜN-ZANG RIK-NGA SEM-PA YAP-YUM DANG
A LA LA HO: The Father and Mother Beings of the Five Families of Samantabhadra,
T’UP-DRUK GO-WA T’RO-GYEL YAP-YUM CHU
The Six Munis, the Sentinels, the Ten Father and Mother Wrathful Kings,
NAY-YUL MA-MO WANG-CHUK GO-KYONG SOK
The Mother Goddesses, the Mighty Mistresses and Gate Guardians of sacred sites, and so forth:
DAM-PA RIK-GYA’Y TS’OK LA CH’AK-TS’EL LO
To the assembly of the Transcendent Hundredfold Family, I pay homage.
A LA LA HO: KHYAY-PAR DRUP-DÉ GYAY SOK LHAK-PA’Y LHA
A LA LA HO: In particular, the exalted deities, such as those of the Eight Classes of Accomplishment,
TAK-PA’Y GYEL-MO YING-CH’UK YUM-CH’EN NGA
The Eternal Queen Dhātviśvarī, the Five Great Mothers,
KHAN-DRO SO-NYIY GING-CH’EN P’O-MO SOK
The thirty-two Ḍākinīs, male and female Great Skeletons and the like:
DAM-CHEN GYA’M-TS’O’I TS’OK LA CH’AK-TS’EL LO
I pay homage to the oceanic assembly of Oath-Bound Ones.
OṂ VAJRASATTVA ĀH
[Tibetan pronunciation:
OṂ BADZRASATTWA ĀH]
DOR-JÉ LOP-PÖN CH’EY SOK LA
Before the Vajra Master, Vajra Siblings and the rest,
DUK-SUM NYÖN-MONG WANG-GYUR NAY
Under the power of the three poisons and mental afflictions,
MI-GÉ CHU DANG TS’AM-MEY NGA
The ten non-virtues and the five heinous crimes,
CHI DANG KHYAY-PAR LHAK-PA YI
And all the general, particular and exceptional
TSA-WA YEN-LAK DAM-NYAM KÜN
Commitment violations of root and branch;
NONG-GYÖ DRAK-PÖ T’OL SHAK NA
If disclosed and confessed, with intense regret for mistakes,
LÜ NGAK YIY SUM DRIP JANG NAY
May the obscurations of threefold body, speech and mind be purified;
NA-RAK NAY KYANG DONG-TRUK TÉ
And then may the depths be dredged, even to the bottom of hell:
KU-SUM GYEL-WA’Y SA T’OP SHOK
And thereby, may the level of the victorious Three Kāyas be attained.
And thus, although the incomparable Kelzang Chöwang (skal bzang chos dbang) made the request again and again, along with [offerings of] representations of Awakened Body, Speech and Mind and a divine white scarf, that a condensed version of Dredging the Depths of Deepest Hell: The King of Confessions of Purifying Remorse, renowned as being a revealed treasure teaching (gter ma) of Nyangrel Nyima Özer (nyang ral nyi ma ‘od zer, 1124-1192), should be written, one in which its words and meaning are complete but came to no more than just four stanzas, I was apprehensive to do so, out of fear that it may be presumptuous with respect to the Vajra Transmissions (the transmitted words of Padmasambhava featured in the treasure teachings or gter-ma of Nyangrel Nyima Özer, rdo rje’i lung). Yet, thinking that it may not only fulfill the hopes of the requester, but also bring about a rain of benefit for others, as accurately as possible, Dharmamati arranged it in the afternoon. May the assemblies of Gurus and Ḍākinīs forebear it, and purify completely: SIDDHI RASTU.
